Google Banned Porn Application

Google-LogoWithin the last two decades, much new technology has come on the back of the adult industry’s support. But Google has decided to reject that indecent proposal, saying that its Glass project, an expensive concept involving Joe 90 glasses, will get support if people are not allowed to run porn applications on them. After the first porn application for Google Glass was announced, it was immediately pulled, as the software violated the most recent additions to the company’s developer policies for the futuristic eyewear. Apparently, the latter bans sexually explicit content.

The software was released by MiKandi, an adult app store representing a successful Android application for porn material. An app allows Google Glass wearers to look at pictures and watch videos filmed using Google Glass and have one-on-one interactions from a first-person point of view, being a kind of visual sexting.

Google’s spokesperson explained that its policies made it clear Glass didn’t allow Glassware material containing nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit content, so any Glassware violating this policy is immediately blocked from appearing on Glass. The policy also promises harsh penalties for any software featuring child porn, which is normal practice everywhere.

Actually, the porn uses of Glass were a fairly obvious app – the headset features a tiny screen above the right eye that displays web material. But Glass lacks a killer app which would make people want to buy it. The latter would be adopted by the adult industry and then others would come up with slightly more salubrious uses. It looks like Google Glass could have gone the same way – over 10,000 people have visited the landing page for the porn application, and a dozen Glass owners have signed up to it. The software developers claimed that they were following the Google Glass developer terms when they began creating the application a few weeks ago, but the rules in question were changed by the search giant just before the software launch. Now the developers will have to comply with the updated rules and are going to roll out new software which somehow doesn’t include any of the forbidden material. An adult industry will do this its way, but it will still do this.
